1. On the day of Pentecost as the 120 disciples were gathered together in ONE PLACE and ONE ACCORD, SUDDENLY there came from heaven the sound as of a mighty rushing wind …. HOW DID IT COME? SUDDENLY! They did not know what to expect or how it would happen. All they knew was that Jesus had promised them: "Wait in Jerusalem until you are clothed with power from on high" LUKE 24:49: As they waited in obedience and one accord, SUDDENLY there came that sound of the Spirit. They went out and faced persecution and even death but they were CLOTHED WITH THE ANOINTING AND POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. IT IS AN EXCITING TIME - JUST AS WE HAVE WINTER AND SUMMER SEASONS, SO THERE IS A SEASON OF SUDDENLIES. GOD WANTS US TO PREPARE OUR HEARTS FOR THIS.
2. *ROMANS 9:28 "The Lord will execute His promises on the earth, finishing the work and cutting it short." Paul by the Spirit is saying "The Lord is going to fully carry out His promises He has made and He is going to do it SUDDENLY." Has God made any promises to you that have NOT YET BEEN FULFILLED OR HAVE NOT HAPPENED YET? You have prayed, believed, stood firm with all your heart, YET STILL NOT SEEN THEM COME TO PASS? GOD IS SAYING SOMETHING TO US. HE WANTS US TO KNOW THAT HE HAS NOT FORGOTTEN WHAT HE HAS PROMISED. HE IS GOING TO EXECUTE HIS PROMISES TO US. HE IS GOING TO FINISH THEM AND WHAT SEEMED ENDLESS WILL TAKE PLACE SUDDENLY AND SUPERNATURALLY. An Example: Abraham & Sarah waited nearly 20 long years for God's promise of a miracle son. Because they grew tired of waiting, they produced an ISMAEL. Then after nearly 20 long years, SUDDENLY Sarah was pregnant with the answer and 9 months later Isaac was a reality! Some of us have been waiting many years for God to fulfil His promise of: SAVING LOVED ONES, HEALING, DELIVERANCE FROM ABUSE, FEAR, DEPRESSION AND REJECTION, RESTORATION OR FINANCES, ETC. AS YOU RECEIVE THIS WORD YOU SUDDENLY WILL BE PREGNANT WITH THE ANSWERS YOU HAVE TRUSTED FOR, AND IT WON'T BE TOO LONG BEFORE THEY ARE A REALITY!
3. *ROMANS 9:28 says that God is going to fully carry out His promises He has made to His people and that He is going to do it SUDDENLY. There is an interesting cross-reference to Isa. 10:23 that Paul, by the Spirit is quoting from. Reading on from verse 23 to 26 God gives TWO EXAMPLES from Israel's history that illustrates how God works SUDDENLY V.26 A) "The slaughter of Midian at the rock of Oreb" V 26 B) "His rod will be over the sea, and He will lift it up the way He did in Egypt".
4. THE SLAUGHTER OF MIDIAN. In Judges Chapter 6-7 is recorded the story of GIDEON. The Midianites were the enemy of Israel and had opposed them for 7 years. The Israelites were living in caves, hideouts and fortresses. They laboured by preparing the ground, sowing, tending the crops but EVERYTIME THE HARVEST WAS READY, THE ENEMY CAME AND STOLE IT AWAY. DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR? We labour, tend the crops but so often the enemy comes and steals the harvest. IT IS FRUSTRATING, DISCOURAGING.
5. IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS SITUATION, GOD SUDDENLY COMES ON THE SCENE. He suddenly visits Gideon, who is hiding from the enemy, threshing wheat in a winepress. He said: "You mighty man of valour" (Did not say: "You wimp, you coward") GOD WAS STATING WHO HE WAS GOING TO BE, NOT WHAT HE WAS RIGHT THEN. GOD CALLS US OVERCOMERS, VICTORS, CONQUERORS, MIGHTY PERSONS OF VALOUR BECAUSE HE SEES US FOR WHO WE REALLY ARE; WHO WE ARE GOING TO BE! 7 YEARS OF DEFERRED HOPE HAD MADE GIDEON'S HEART SICK BUT THIS MADE NO DIFFERENCE TO GOD. HE WAS GOING TO DELIVER THEM ANYWAY.
6. GOD WORKED A SUDDENLY. He did it through Gideon and 300 picked men. They supernaturally defeated the Midiate army, captured their King Oreb, and chopped off his head at a rock, which they named Oreb. Some of us need to stop wounding our problem and CHOP OFF IT'S HEAD INSTEAD SO IT CANNOT COME BACK AND OPPRESS US AGAIN! GOD WANTS TO WORK A SUDDENLY ON YOUR BEHALF! HE IS ABLE TO DO IT, HE IS WILLING TO DO IT, HE IS DETERMINED TO DO IT. NB: ONE MINUTE YOU WILL BE FACING THE MOUNTAIN, THEN SUDDENLY GOD WILL COME ON THE SCENE AND IT WILL BE REMOVED.

SUDDENLY YOUR STORMCLOUDS WILL GIVE WAY TO SUNSHINE.
SUDDENLY WHAT YOU HAVE BEEN PRAYING FOR, WILL BE THERE.
SUDDENLY WHAT HAS BEEN LONG DELAYED, WILL HAPPEN.

WE NEED TO HAVE THIS KIND OF PREGNANT EXPECTATION, EXPECTING GOD TO WORK SUDDENLY ON OUR BEHALF.

2 CHRON 16:9 "THE EYES OF THE LORD RUN TO AND FRO THROUGHOUT ALL THE EARTH; TO SHOW HIMSELF STRONG ON BEHALF OF ALL THOSE WHOSE HEARTS ARE UPRIGHT BEFORE HIM".
